Kentucky Lake Fishing Guide

I want to thank you for one of the most memorable experiences of my life, When you combine excellent fishing, delicious and abundant food, fantastic scenery and a wilderness setting it would be hard not to have a great time.  What I enjoyed the most would be hard to pick, but the day of top water smallmouth bass fishing Joe and I had was fantastic. Picking fresh blueberries in camp for our pancakes and feasting on filet mignon in the wilderness were hard to beat too. The sounds of the wilderness were exceptional. The constant call of the loon, cry of the eagle, raven and osprey, as well as the howl of wolves at night made for a truly unique experience.  Getting there was part of the special experience too. The marine rail portages with the tow boat and canoeing to our base camp was not overly difficult and well worth the effort.  Around the camp fire in the evening reliving the great fishing and telling jokes and stories with newly made friends, was an enjoyable daily ritual.  Time spent star gazing in the clear Canadian nights and seeing a shooting star in the reflection of the night sky on the surface of a clear, calm lake was memorable.  There was a number of firsts for me on this trip; catching a trophy Smallmouth as well as my first Walleye and Northern Pike.  Thanks again for your hard work and excellent preparation in making for a spectacular immersion into the wilderness experience.  I hope to make the trip again!

This was a great trip … for a lot of reasons.  Great weather, an abundance of wildlife including otters, eagles and loons and feeling the raw power and majesty of the many waterfalls made for a great experience.   Although I hadn’t met any of the others on the trip previously, we became good friends and a great group to enjoy God's beauty.  We caught plenty of walleye for shore lunch and certainly more northern pike than we could ever ask for … or maybe they caught us!  Photographing trophy smallmouth was experienced by everyone on the trip!  I caught my two personal best smallies on topwater just before dark … you gotta love the anticipation followed by the explosion.  Kick’n Bass’ camping equipment is top notch which really added to the enjoyment of the trip and the home cooked meals were the best.  The pre-planning and preparation made this a real relaxing and fun trip for me.  Well Done!

I just returned from a ”Canadian Wilderness Adventure” with Kick’n Bass Guide service. While this was my third fishing trip to Canada, it was the most adventurous and consequently the most fun. This is not your ordinary fishing trip it’s a total experience.  Imagine yourself enjoying a mixture of adventure, comfortable camping, good food, and fantastic fishing all wrapped up in a wilderness setting. One day my fishing buddy, David Chiles from Cadiz, Ky. asked me,” what could be done to make this trip better”?  After thinking for a few moments I realized that there was really nothing I could think of or would change. To me this was a real tribute to Randy and his good friend Clyde Tackett’s expertise, planning and experience, for which there is no substitute. My most memorable day of fishing was catching smallmouth bass in the 20” class on top water baits … simply awesome! My favorite meal; the pancakes with fresh blueberries picked right from camp with honey smoked bacon. There is no doubt that Kick’n Bass Guide Service is at the top of the heap when considering a guide or outfitter for this type of trip … and yes, Randy and Clyde are really nice guys to be with.

I have used the phrase "experience of a lifetime" before, but our BWCA / Quetico wilderness adventure trip redefined this for me. If someone's idea of a wilderness adventure is meticulous trip pre-planning and preparation, a beautiful campsite, 5 star menu, comfortable sleeping accommodations, awe inspiring wilderness beauty, and throw in great fishing as a kicker, then this is the trip for them. I want to thank you for providing the opportunity for me to share this experience with my 74 year old father, and other good friends, which now includes you and Clyde. The lord willing, this will not be my last opportunity to express my appreciating for Kick'n Bass Guide Service.

I had a feeling that I’d have a great time with my father in BWCA / Quetico Provincial Park since we’d been on canoe trips before and always had a good time.  But, this trip was beyond anything I expected.  Breathtaking views, great fishing, and amazing food are just a few reasons that I can't wait to go back.  This was the best camping experience of my life by a long shot.  In fact, I'm not sure how it could be any better.  Most people go on these trips and their best food is freeze dried, trail mix or beef jerky.  Randy and Clyde made sure we didn't go hungry.  Beef filet mignon, a shore lunch of fried walleye within 3 hours of being caught, and pork tenderloin cooked over an open fire were just a few of the top notch menu items.  They also made sure we were comfortable at all times, even being in the remote wilderness.  I joked around about feeling like I was in a four bedroom condo the whole week.  But, that's just what it felt like.  With the top of the line equipment we were provided I slept better, if not as well as I do at home.  The fishing was also better than anything I have ever experienced.  I caught 3 of the biggest smallies of my life with two over 20 inches and one right at 21.  I knew I would have fun, but the memories I made with the group are unforgettable.  The best part is that I got to share them with my father.  If you're reading this, you have to find a way to make this trip happen.  Kick N' Bass will take it far and beyond anything you could ever imagine.

My Dad and I just got back from fishing in the BWCA and Quetico with Kick’n Bass and all I can say is “WOW”!  I’ve always wanted to see this wilderness area, but was a little apprehensive about going into the area with little experience and a lack of needed equipment.  Randy, our guide and his friend Clyde Tackett our other guide, couldn’t have been more professional and worked EXTREMELY hard to make sure we were as comfortable as we could possibly be while providing us with some of the best food you could have asked for (bacon wrapped filets, pork tenderloin, red beans and rice, chicken fettuccini, fried walleye and potatoes, bacon and eggs, fresh blueberry pancakes, etc…) this was in the middle of nowhere mind you where other BWCA visitors were feasting on freeze dried food and beef jerky!  All we really needed to do was bring our clothes, fishing gear, and toothbrush and Randy took care of the rest.  As for the fishing… we caught several hundred smallies with several topping the magical 5 lbs. mark, enough walleye to have a shore lunch most anytime we wanted, and enough big pike to really keep things interesting, but this trip is more about the entire “experience” than just the fishing.  There aren’t many places left on earth you can sit around your camp and watch a brute of a black bear swim across to the nearest island, eagles soaring around every corner, hear an occasional wolf howling, and just get away from it all!  Randy provided the best equipment possible, planned absolutely everything, and couldn’t have catered anymore to specific requests I had made.  All I can say is “THANK YOU” for an experience my dad and I will never forget and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your services to anyone.  While I could go on and on about how hard the two of you worked to make our trip an unbelievable experience the best compliment I can give you is that my Dad and I are now proud to call yourself and Clyde our friends and hope we can do it again sometime.
